UK's solar panels market 'set to grow'
Article date : 09/06/2010

The new Feed-in Tariffs for homeowners could lead to a significant boost for the solar panels market, new research has suggested.
According to the report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the solar industry is likely to grow five-fold by 2010 as more Britons use the government scheme to fund the technology in their properties.
By 2015, it is predicted the market will have increased 30-fold.
However, despite this growth it will not be until 2020 that the UK is producing as much solar power as Germany is today.
Solar panels collect the heat and light of the sun and use it to boost
central heating systems and hot water supply, resulting in significantly reduced carbon emissions and utility bills.
Daniel Guttmann, renewables director of PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: "The significant expansion that may be just around the corner will change todays cottage industry into a much more professionally organised sector."
He added that the solar market is set to become far more sophisticated over the coming years.
