Solar panels 'like a badge of honour'

Solar panels 'like a badge of honour'Solar panels are the equivalent of a green "badge of honour" on UK properties, one sector commenter has claimed.

Daniel Green, chief executive officer of HomeSun, added that using an energy monitor can also help Britons to create more energy efficient homes, claiming it is like dieting and that the more people see what they consume the more they will cut down.

He explained that this, in turn, would help consumers to reduce their energy bills, meaning that this efficiency would become a way of life.

A further benefit of solar panels, according to Mr Green, is that, unlike features such as cavity wall insulation, they are displayed on the exterior of the home for all to see, clearly showing the owner is someone who is trying to make a difference.

"This is a unique way in which people can publicly have a badge of honour on their house showing that they are prepared to make a difference to not only their families, but also to the wider community," he added.

Britons who invest in solar panels can now be paid for the electricity they produce and consume in their own home, along with an additional payment for any they direct to the National Grid.
