Solar panels announcement 'very exciting'

Businesses and homeowners alike could now find there are additional motivations for investing in solar panels than just the desire to go green and become more energy efficient.

From April, Britons who generate energy using renewable energy technology such as solar panels or wind turbines - even if it is for their own homes - will receive around £900 for the energy they produce.

This is in addition to the £140 savings such technology is likely to make on the average household bill.

Commenting on the news, Andrew Moore, managing director of British Eco Energy, said this is the first time solar panels have become a realistic option for both homeowners and businesses - with companies now able to benefit from a return on investment when they invest in the devices.

"This announcement takes renewable from being a niche market for very green people or very wealthy people, to something that most people can do. It's very exciting," he concluded.
