Solar installation funding for Welsh homes announced
Article date : 21/05/2010

Solar installation is to be carried out on a number of homes in Wales after the government confirmed £30 million of funding for energy-efficiency measures.
The initiative aims to improve sustainability in 6,000 properties across the country by 2011, with the most deprived areas being a priority.
Projects launched under the 'arbed' initiative include solar cell installation work in Mon a Menai, with local electricians who are struggling for business being trained up in this technology.
Head of Energy Saving Trust Wales Helen Northmore said the venture will help to tackle fuel poverty issues and regenerate some of the less privileged places in the country.
She remarked: "Wales is leading the game on the agenda and this is the biggest, most ambitious scheme of its type actually underway in the UK."
Simon McWhirter, campaign director of the Great British Refurb Campaign, recently said green and sustainable buildings are vital for addressing issues with carbon dioxide emissions.
