The French capital is well on its way to going green, following proposals for a new development that will be powered by solar panels.
According to the Independent, the quarter, which will be situated in the south-east of Paris, will have its first building developed by ICADE Promotion and design company MVRDV.
Located in the 13th arrondissement (district) the low-energy building will utilise the power of the sun using solar panels to boost heating, hot water and electricity supply.
It is hoped that the energy production capacity will amount to 200,000 KWH per year.
The newspaper notes that this is just one of the large-scale eco projects taking place in major European cities, with others being planned for or existing in Freiburg in Germany, in Sweden and the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen.
Meanwhile, in the UK that Watton and Swaffham Times has revealed that the country's largest tracking solar panel has been switched on at the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham.
