New solar panels scheme announced

Pupils in the UK could soon have the chance of learning a lesson on renewable energy and its positive effect on the environment, following a recent announcement.
British Gas has revealed that it is to install solar panels at 750 schools across the country free of charge, helping them to reduce their utility bills by as much as 20 per cent.
It is believed that the energy produced by the panels will create £1.3 million-worth of savings annually over the next 25 years - money that will then be reinvested in supplying more schools with the technology.
The provider claims that this will see 1,100 schools having solar panels installed over the next five years.
Katie Alloway, spokesperson for the firm, said: "A school is the hub of a community, used by so many people, so the opportunity to have a solar panel and showcase that technology will really help them to understand more about the technology."
She added that schools would also have the opportunity to sell any excess electricity they generate - such as during the summer holidays - to the National Grid.
