Britons 'will definitely be encouraged to buy solar panels'
Article date : 05/04/2010

Now Britons could be financially rewarded for using solar panels, more people and organisations are likely to invest in the technology, it has been claimed.
Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, was commenting on the Feed-in Tariff scheme introduced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change last week.
Under the programme, people will be paid for the electricity generated by their renewable energy technology, while they will also receive a further payment per excess unit they direct to the National Grid.
This means that Britons who have invested in the typical 2.5kW, well-sited solar PV installation could benefit from savings of £140 a year, in addition to earning around £900 annually.
Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, said: "Now that they are going to potentially earn money from it, or save money on their electricity bills, a lot of people will be keen to take it up."
Further benefits of solar panels include their ability to boost
central heating systems without increasing carbon emissions and heat water for the home in a greener way.
