Simple action taken by homeowners could see people saving a significant sum on their energy bills, it has been suggested - something which could prove valuable amid the ongoing credit crunch.
Commenting on this week's unveiling of the government's Renewable Energy Strategy, Moneysupermarket.com called it a "clear call to action" for Britons to start thinking more about energy efficiency in their homes.
In line with this, the price comparison site offers a number of tips to homeowners looking to go green.
These include using
heating controls to turn down
central heating systems one degree Celsius in temperature - a step which could reduce their utility bills by up to ten per cent.
Indeed, the Telegraph recently stated that such action could result in a £75 saving on annual bills.
The price comparison site goes on to state: "While bills are currently low due to the lull in consumption over the summer months, it would be a real investment for the winter ahead to take measures now to better insulate homes, therefore making savings when bill payers really need them.
