Britons are becoming increasingly aware of how sustainable technology in the home can save them money in the long run by reducing their energy bills, one sector commentator has claimed.
Steve Oxley, deputy editor at green business magazine sustain', said that this knowledge was one of the key factors in the increasing demand for renewable technology.
"One of the big key issues is how much energy [consumers] use and, if they can cut down on energy usage by installing renewable or reducing their carbon footprint, then ultimately it saves them money," he explained.
Mr Oxley added that factors such as new legislation on property developments were also playing a part in this increase in demand.
His comments are reflected in recent research for npower, carried out by Tickbox.net and Opinion Matters, which revealed that 76 per cent of people think that renewable energy generation could add value to the home, due to energy bill savings.
However, there are other ways Britons can reduce their energy bills, including installing a new
condensing boiler and
heating controls, which could result in £275 saved each year on utilities.
