Making a home more energy efficient will involve some upfront costs, but homeowners could see savings further down the line, a claim suggests.
Investigating the different ways to go green, Independent journalist Alessia Horwich said a high-efficiency
boiler system combined with solar thermal panels can reduce heating bills.
Solar panels which are installed to face south can produce up to 40 per cent of the power needed to heat water every year.
Homeowners who have less money to spend on making their
central heating systems more efficient can buy
cheap radiator controls, the reporter continued.
"Controls on each
radiator let you change the temperature in each room and are standard on newer
radiators. These controls can be bought cheaply and put on any radiator in any house," she noted.
The Telegraph recently reported that using
heating controls to turn the temperature down on
central heating systems by one degree Celsius can save some households up to £75 on annual bills.
