Wood-burning boiler launched in UK market
Article date : 08/08/2010

A biomass
boiler has been launched for the first time on the UK market, it is reported.
According to Which?, the wood-burning appliance can be added to
central heating systems in order to provide hot water and heating for properties.
Euroheat is the first company to launch such an appliance - which uses wood as fuel, rather than the traditional gas or oil - and the TDA Termodual range of biomass
boilers from SHT-Austria is able to burn either pellets or logs.
Such appliances are considered a greener option than traditional
gas boilers as the wood can by purchased from a sustainable source.
Which? boilers expert Lizzy Ruffles said that biomass is considered carbon-neutral, as the emissions it produces from burning wood is around the equivalent of that the trees absorb while growing.
"If you're not connected to the mains gas network, a wood heating system could be a good option for central heating and hot water if you don't want to use electric storage heaters or an oil-powered boiler," she explained.
