Window shutters 'can help with energy efficiency'
Article date : 17/08/2010

Homeowners looking to make an attractive feature from energy efficiency have been advised to consider having window shutters installed.
Sam Tamlyn, operations manager at the California Company, said: "Make a feature out of your windows with bespoke wooden shutters, which are very popular in the Mediterranean for light and temperature control."
Such a feature may help consumers when it comes to retaining heat in their living spaces during the winter months, meaning they do not have to turn up their
radiators to stay warm.
This could see them relying less on the
central heating systems, consuming less energy and saving money on their bills as a result.
Mr Tamlyn advised sourcing hard wood window products from the Forest Stewardship Council, which is an assurance that the production of the wood has not damaged the environment.
Elsewhere, the Daily Mail recently reported that wooden fixtures and fittings are proving popular in the home, as interiors get a country feel.
