Homebuilders 'looking to improve energy efficiency'
Article date : 29/07/2010

Many homebuilders are looking for new ways to improve energy efficiency and make properties more eco-friendly, one expert believes.
Vernon Pethard, founder of newhomesforsale.co.uk, said Brits are becoming increasingly aware of environmental issues.
As a result, many homebuilders are delivering sustainable construction and working "harder than ever" to make houses kinder to the environment.
Installing better
central heating systems is one of the ways in which they are doing this, he continued.
Similarly, they are "leading the way in innovative new ways of sourcing materials and it doesn't stop with low-energy light bulbs and superb levels of insulation", Mr Pethard added.
Homebuilders are also looking for white goods and appliances with high energy ratings, he claimed.
Last month, a report from the Green Investment Bank Commission stated that the UK needs to reduce energy demand by making its housing stock more efficient, instead of decarbonising supplies.
