Businesses 'should be improving energy efficiency'
Article date : 01/08/2010

The
central heating systems used within business premises can significantly contribute to the amount of energy that a building consumes, it has been claimed.
Colin Harrop, chairman of the Yorkshire and Humberside Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors board, told the Sheffield Telegraph that in order to reduce the current trend of power wastage, the way buildings are used needed to change.
He added that the north-east region of the UK is already taking such steps and boasts a number of sustainable properties, such as the Regional Agricultural Centre in Harrogate, which has solar panels to heat water.
Mr Harrop explained that in order for a property to achieve a high Energy Performance Certificate rating it needed to be as efficient as possible.
"It needs to be utilising the most effective solutions to conserve energy - one such solution is a
condensing boiler as they are far more energy efficient than the more traditional
boilers," he explained.
Indeed, he concluded that the efficiency of a
boiler was "imperative".
Vernon Pethard, founder of newhomesforsale.co.uk, recently claimed that people in the UK are becoming increasingly aware of environmental issues and are working harder to ensure that their homes are not damaging the planet.
