Are Brits implementing energy efficient improvements correctly?

Are Brits implementing energy efficient improvements correctly? Many Britons may know that adding a condensing boiler to their central heating systems, investing in insulation and double glazing or having renewable energy technology can help to make their properties more energy efficient.

However, Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, claims that a far smaller proportion of homeowners are actually implementing these changes.

He explains that in recent years an increase in awareness of the benefits of energy efficient - such as reducing carbon emissions and utility bills - has been noted among consumers, but a gap existed between this knowledge and action being taken.

"Future savings on both money and reducing carbon footprints over time is not motivation enough for many home improvers to outlay cost now, when they are already cash strapped, for returns which could be gained later," Mr Holmes explained.

And it appears the same trend is occurring across the pond, after ServiceMagic research revealed that 58 per cent of US homeowners considered green options when remodelling their property, but few carried out the work.
