Will energy bills changes lead to improved central heating systems?
Article date : 02/07/2010

This week, changes have been introduced to the way that considers receive their utility bills in an effort to encourage people to become more energy efficient and save money.
According to Ofgem, as of July 1st, requests for payment will include a more detailed explanation of how much energy they have consumed, along with a breakdown of their usage costs.
In addition, utility customers are also to receive an annual statement from their energy provider.
Hannah Mummery, senior policy advocate for energy, Consumer Focus, welcomed the news, saying it will give consumers the option to make a positive switch.
"I think there has been a lack of transparency previously where people were often unaware they can get cheaper deals out there, or even with their own supplier by making some changes," she added.
In addition, seeing how much energy they consume may prompt homeowners to improve their energy efficiency by making some positive changes.
These could include investing in a
condensing boiler and
heating controls, which the Energy Saving Trust claims can help to reduce carbon emissions and save money.
