Why buyers should look for greener central heating systems
Article date : 04/08/2010

When they view what could potentially become their first home, Britons should make enquiries as to the age of the building's
boiler.
This is because
central heating systems can play a major role in how much homeowners have to pay in terms of bills, while it can also influence the size of their property's carbon footprint.
In addition, if a
gas boiler is over 15 years old it is likely to need replacing, which could be an additional cost buyers had not accounted for.
More people may now be considering taking their first steps on the property ladder after Zoopla.co.uk reported that 32 per cent of houses on the market have reduced their asking prices at least once.
Commenting on the news, Paul Holmes, chief executive officer of Firstrung, said: "It is the start of good news. However, there is still a real dislocation between asking prices and selling prices and what a first-time buyer can afford."
