How domestic heating controls could help save money
Article date : 10/02/2010

Just as spring appears to be on the way, the Met Office has warned temperatures could hit freezing again this week, which may have left Britons worried how they will stay warm when already facing high winter utilities bills.
However, there are a number of money-saving improvements consumers can carry out in their homes which can help them to both retain heat in their property and save money.
Matt Lederer, founder of Mahogany Builders, recommends installing
central heating controls, such as a programmable thermostat.
He notes the key to saving money is to only program
central heating systems to run on a high temperature when a property is both occupied and its residents awake.
When members of the household are out or asleep, the heating can then be set to come on at a lower temperature, he adds.
Mr Lederer also recommends only heating the rooms which are used regularly in order to save money - which may be achieved through
heating controls.
Indeed, the Energy Saving Trust claims people could save up to a third on their energy bills by combining a
condensing boiler with
heating controls.
