Brits 'should act on their concern about bills'The potential cost of their energy bills this winter is an issue of concern for many homeowners across the UK, yet they are failing to act on this fear, one sector commentator has claimed.

Yet Peter Jenkins, spokesperson for the Home Heat Helpline, said there is plenty of advice available from resources such as his helpline for people who wish to shave valuable pounds off their bills by making their homes and central heating systems more energy efficient.

Indeed, he explained that having a property fully insulated could see households saving £265 every year on their bills, in addition to making their homes warmer.

Meanwhile, Julian Troake, energy surveyor, said: "Keep your house insulated before the mad rush comes to insulate your home, don't wait."

Other improvements Britons may wish to make to their properties include having a condensing boiler and the correct heating controls installed, which the Energy Saving Trust claimed could save over £200 annually on bills.

Meanwhile, the group also advises bleeding radiators before the winter to ensure they are as efficient as possible.
