Boarding school receives loan for improvements to central heating systems
Article date : 17/08/2010

Pupils at one Surrey boarding school could soon be enjoying warmer and more energy efficient classrooms thanks to improvements that are to be made to its
central heating systems.
The BBC reports that Royal Alexandra and Albert School in Reigate secured the interest-free loan from the government's energy efficiency financing scheme Salix.
It is hoped the £670,000 will allow the education establishment to lower its costs by £160,000 annually and also to lower its emissions by 40 per cent.
The money will be used to install a
boiler management system and other heating improvements.
Peter Martin, Surrey's children and learning councillor, said: "As we continue our drive to be a world class organisation, our aim is for Surrey to have the lowest carbon emissions of any council in the country."
Elsewhere, Zoe Robinson, ethical development manager at Warren Evans, recently claimed that energy companies should be doing more to attract young people to the industry.
