Are utility bills pushing up living costs?
Article date : 17/08/2010

The price of water, electricity and gas could be increasing the cost of living for many adults in the UK.
This is the opinion of Annie Shaw, editor of personal finance website CashQuestions.com, who claimed utilities may be counteracting reductions in inflation.
She noted that while it is good news that inflation is currently stable, this does not take into other factors that may be affecting Brits.
"Different groups of people will have different personal rates of inflation," Ms Shaw explained, adding: "We have also seen increases in the price of petrol and utilities."
According to the expert, other areas in which people in the UK are seeing a rise in prices is food and oil prices, the latter seeing high levels of volatility in particular.
Those hoping to bring down their bills could benefit from installing an environmentally-friendly
boiler, with the Energy Saving Trust claiming it may lead to up to £225 annual savings.
