Britons looking for a home improvement project to keep them busy this coming bank holiday weekend may wish to follow the advice of one green group and make updating their current
central heating systems a priority.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, those with a little extra to spend on their home improvements should look first to their
central heating systems.
"Replacing an old inefficient
boiler with a
condensing boiler and a full set of
heating controls could up to £300 per year on your heating and hot water bills," the group notes.
However, it also offers a number of energy-saving DIY tips which may prove useful to homeowners on a budget.
These include insulating hot water pipes, adding a jacket to the hot water tanks and placing a reflective panel or piece of foil behind
radiators to prevent heat being absorbed into walls.
Britons who feel inspired to give their own
central heating systems a green makeover should contact a Gas Safe registered
boiler engineer to fit their
new boiler.
