Brits urged to make most of energy

Article date : 23/10/2008

Ofgem has launched a campaign aimed at empowering homeowners to make the most of the current energy market, it has been noted.

According to Citizens Advice, the scheme is to be funded by the Department for Energy and Climate Change.

It has been designed to aid low income energy consumers to locate the information and guidance they will need on tariff and payment options and will also provide access to grants for services such as central heating installation or new insulation.

Ofgem managing director for corporate affairs Sarah Harrison said: "Making sure customers get the best deal from the energy market is one of the main aims of Ofgem's proposals following our energy supply market probe."

Meanwhile, the Energy Saving Trust's Energy Saving Week has been created to help homeowners cut down on their bills and preserve the environment, according to the Fair Investment Group.

This may be achieved by turning down the thermostat on a condensing boiler.
