Should Britons prioritise condensing boilers?

Replacing old
gas boilers with new high-efficiency
condensing boilers should be one of the first steps Britons take on the road to leading a greener lifestyle, it has been suggested.
Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change Lord Adair Turner said a whole-house approach to energy efficiency needed to be taken, where households could benefit from "one-stop shops" where they could receive advice on the cost it would take for them lower the carbon footprint.
"After home insulation and more efficient
boilers, we now need more intrusive things - double glazing, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation," he added.
Commenting on the news, Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, said there were also a number of more economical steps Britons could consider to boost their energy efficiency, such as turning down the thermostats on their
central heating systems.
He added that these should be the initial actions Britons carry out to save money and reduce their carbon emissions, before being encouraged to invest in
condensing boilers.
