New boiler 'the most important investment'
Article date : 28/10/2009

Buying a
new boiler has been named as the "most important investment" homeowners can make by one UK newspaper.
And the Independent also asserts that a
new boiler is the appliance most likely to result in the biggest cost savings on annual energy bills, particularly through the winter months.
The news source notes that purchasing a
new boiler is an important part of the property weatherproofing process that homeowners should look to carry out before the cold temperatures arrive if they wish to avoid high energy bills.
"
Condensing boilers are the most efficient and if your current
boiler is more than 15 years old and you replace it, adding a new set of
heating controls, you can expect to save a quarter on your bills and reduce your carbon dioxide emissions," it states.
The newspaper went on to note that when having a
new boiler installed, Britons should always contact a
boiler engineer who is a card-carrying member of the Gas Safe Register.
It adds that such a professional will also be able to advise on whether a
combination boiler or regular
condensing boiler is the right choice for a property's needs.
Another weatherproofing step may be to take the time to bleed
radiators, as this can boost their efficiency and help to avoid utility bills rising steeply over the winter.
