Britons who are willing to put their money towards investing in a
new boiler could find that this initial cost pays for itself over the long term, one sector commentator has claimed.
Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, made her comments after research by the price comparison website revealed that energy bills in the UK could be set to reach £4,185 by 2020 if the current increases continue.
The group notes that over the last five years, utilities bills have more than doubled, taking them to £1,243.
Commenting on the findings, Ms Robinson said: "Big projects such as a new energy-efficient
boiler ... can be expensive, but the savings you make through cutting the price of your energy could be re-invested into energy efficiency measures so that you reap even greater rewards in the future."
And in addition to being energy efficient, a
condensing boiler could also aid Britons' long-term plans to go green.
According to the Baxi EnergyHub, if every UK household which has gas
central heating systems installed a
condensing boiler, enough energy would be saved to heat 3.4 million properties for a year.
