The Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Department for Communities and Local Government have recently unveiled that Heat and Energy Saving strategy proposals, which aims to reduce the UK's carbon emissions.
As part of the scheme, energy and climate change secretary Ed Milliband stated that by 2015, all domestic properties should have cavity wall and loft insulation, while by 2020 seven million homes would be offered a whole-house refurbishment with the aim of going green.
This is set to include new technology to generate heat and power for the home, Mr Milliband claimed, which may see more homeowners benefiting from a condensing boiler and hearing controls which are highly efficient in comparison to typical gas boilers.
However, Andrew Moore, managing director of BritishEco.com, said that implementing the strategy would be a "huge task".
"With the best will in the world, the vast majority of the population doesn't buy into [renewable energy]," he claimed.
