Britons have been advised that one of the best places to start in reducing their carbon emissions is by lowering their household's consumption of gas.
The Guardian reports that homes which run on gas are likely to find that the fuel forms the most significant part of their carbon footprint, which could mean that reducing gas reliance helps to cut carbon emissions and gas bills.
"[This] means doing some or all of the following: [...] getting a
new boiler, heating fewer rooms, reducing the temperature on your thermostat, [...] buying a wood-burning stove, sticking aluminium foil or reflective panels behind
radiators," the newspaper urges.
Over the long-term, such action could help to save households money, the Guardian continues.
This assertion is echoed by the Energy Saving Trust, which states that a
condensing boiler could reduce gas bills by over £200 a year, in addition to cutting a home's carbon footprint.
