School evacuated 'following smoking boiler'
Article date : 21/07/2010

Pupils at a school in Suffolk were evacuated when their onsite
boiler began smoking, according to a report.
EADT24 claims that Ringshall School, on Offton Road, was emptied of staff and children following the incident one lunchtime.
Firefighters from Stowmarket and Needham Market were called to the scene to examine the
boiler, which was pumping smoke throughout the building.
It was concluded that a "blowback" from the appliance had led to the incident and the children returned to their lessons later on in the day.
Should a
boiler behave in an unusual way such as this, Britons would be advised to seek professional help and evacuate the premises, while they should never attempt to fix the problem themselves.
Having one annual
boiler service conducted by a qualified member of the Gas Safe Register can determine whether a gas appliance poses the risk of fire, explosion or a carbon monoxide leak.
