Older people 'should hire boiler engineers'

Many older people in the UK have carried out home improvement tasks themselves, it is claimed, but when it comes to major work - such as fitting a
new boiler - they may wish to contact a
boiler engineer.
Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council, said that some DIY jobs were suitable for older Britons to get stuck in to, such as painting and decorating, but that when it came to a major plumbing, electrical or roofing job a professional should be contacted.
He added that this was important "not only from the point of view of getting the job well done, but also from a safety point of view too".
Homeowners are warned by the Gas Safe Register that when it comes to installing a
new boiler they should always contact one of its member
boiler engineers.
This can reduce the risk of a
boiler explosion, fire or carbon monoxide leak.
