New boiler 'can make significant savings'Britons do not have to break the bank in order to fund home improvements designed to increase the energy efficiency of their properties, it has been claimed, with improvements such as having a new boiler installed resulting in "significant savings".

Michael Holmes, a spokesman for the National Home Improvement Show and editor-in-chief of Real Homes, said the money involved is not as "prohibitive as it once was".

This is because demand for green products in increasing, as is Britons' knowledge of what they can do around the house to reduce their carbon footprints - such as modernising central heating systems.

"There are a number of ways in which a house can be bought up to average green standards for under £3,000 including insulation - whether attic or cavity wall - [or] installing a new boiler, specifically, a condensing boiler," he added.

Mr Holmes explained that it was simple and inexpensive measures that could help to make properties more efficient.

Britons who wish to reduce their carbon emissions and save money on their energy bills by investing in a new boiler should ensure that they contact a properly qualified member of the Gas Safe Register to carry out the work.
