Boiler scrappage 'modernising homes'

Article date : 02/03/2010

Boiler scrappage 'modernising homes'Spring is now on the way, with just weeks to go until the clocks change, but this does not mean that Britons should abandon their plans to bring central heating systems up to date.

Indeed, now may be a good time to modernise heating, in order to ensure it is working soundly and efficiency in time for next winter.

And people hoping to take such action may wish to get a move on and take advantage of the government's ongoing boiler scrappage scheme - which Plumbing Park reports has made investing in an efficient condensing boiler more cost-effective for consumers.

Households who currently have a G-rated boiler as part of their central heating systems can apply to the Energy Saving Trust for a voucher valued at £400 off the cost of a condensing boiler, although many of the vouchers have already been snapped up.

As well as saving them money, the campaign could also see people benefiting from more up to date home heating.

Ottokar Rosenberger, director of sales and marketing for Ratedpeople.com, notes: "The [boiler scrappage] scheme as a whole will be instrumental in bringing a large number of homes' heating systems into the 21st century, where sustainability is of great importance."
