Boiler explosion at Melton pub
Article date : 15/08/2010

A pub in Melton has been damaged in an explosion caused by a faulty
boiler.
The detonation caused a hole along one side of the George Hotel on Saturday (August 14th), although no-one was injured in the incident.
A spokesman from the owner of the pub, Marston, said the establishment is currently being examined by structural engineers and will reopen as soon as possible.
"Investigations are still on going as to the cause of the explosion. We're hugely relieved that no-one was injured," he explained.
The section destroyed by the blast is reportedly used as a residential quarters, however, it was unoccupied at the time.
Immediately after the incident, the pub was evacuated and a dog was rescued from upstairs by firefighters.
The Gas Safe Register suggests getting a regular
boiler service from a registered engineer in order to avoid problems with heating systems.
