CORGI logo

GAS SAFE is the new leading authority on gas safety issues around the home.

GAS SAFE now superseeds CORGI (founded in1970) to protect the public from the dangers of unsafe gas installations. By maintaining an up-to-date register of qualified gas installers and other trades people, GAS SAFE sets out to promote the core values of professional service and high standards in safety.

The GAS SAFE badge is now a guarantee of quality, making it the standard to look for when considering boiler installation. In recent years, registration has become a legal requirement for anyone installing or repairing gas fittings or appliances. So, you can be sure that any work completed by a GAS SAFE technician will be done competently and safely.

Example CORGI ID

Always ask to see a Gas Safe ID card.

All GAS SAFE-registered installers must carry an ID card and have it available to show to you when they are working in your home.

Always check your installer's GAS SAFE ID card - front and back - this way you can be confident they are who they say they are, and that they are properly trained to carry out the work.

If you don't see this card, don't let them in.

To make sure your installer is safe, ask to see their GAS SAFE ID Card and check:

  • Does the photo match?
  • Is the card in date?
  • Does the business name match up?
  • Does it have the GAS SAFE registered installer logo and their number?
  • Does the card list the type of work that you want the installer to undertake?
