What is Fuel switching?

Fuel switching basically means moving from one type of fuel to another, with regards to the heating source for your home. As an effort to promote cleaner – more carbon friendly fuels, the A1 scheme aims to provide funding to help homeownes move to better heating alternatives. For instance, a homeowner whose house is primarily heated by ether electric or coal may be helped through the scheme to switch to gas or oil. But there are many different situations which may qualify for funding.

The funding available is much dependent on the type of heating already installed. Funding is for privately owned properties with higher levels available to those aged over 70.
